LPC header holes filled with solder
Hey guys, a friend of mine brought over his xbox and asked me to install an X3 for him, he got the xapt3r solderless adapter to go along with it. With it being a solderless install I agreed to help him out. Well, I opened his xbox up and low and behold his LPC header holes are filled with solder. Now I'm guessing that I'm going to have to un-solder those holes for it to work right aren't I?? Thanks for the help

Yeah just get some desolder braid. You can get it at radioshack. But fyi the solderless adapters suck. If he moves his xbox at all it will most likely get bumped and come loose giving you a nasty little error. I would reccomend just doing the wire install and then having to skip clearing thoes holes. That's what i did on my 1.0 and worked like a charm. Hope i helped.

Yeah, that helped alot. I've got some desoldering braid, I just wanted to make sure before I started un-filling those holes if I didn't have to. How did you get to skip clearing the holes with installing the header pins?? And oh yeah, I don't know anything about Xenium Spice chips if there any good as far as features go but check this out http://www.teamxodus.com/XOS/spice.wmv they send and xbox with the top of the case down a set of tiled stairs and when it gets to the bottom, they plug it in and all the proper indicaterslight up. They didn't show it connected to a tv after that though. But if it did work, I would have to say thats one tough solderless install.

I skiped desoldering, because i used the solder already in there. If you do the wire insall, you just warm up the solder and slide the wire in, very easy, probably the easiest of all of the techniques. Just hold the mobo verticle and warm up the solder from behind and slide the wire in. Look on teamxecuter's site for diagrams. Hope i helped.

ah, I see what you did now. I was thinking that you had installed the lpc header in it and I was thinking now how did he do that when you could only warm up one hole at a time, that would be hard to get the header flush with the board that way, but you used the wire install and installed one wire at a time. OK. But I got it done at any rate. Wasn't very hard to un-solder them, took me an extra 5 minutes so it only took me a total of 10 minutes to actually install it. Thanks for hte help TwinskIR.

Just glad everything worked out...
